Tuba virtuosi Øystein Baadsvik recently premiered his own tuba concerto with Nordic Chamber Orchestra and conductor Christian Lindberg.
Wide panoramas
One Swedish press reviewer was so impressed he wrote: "Completely contemporary yet harmonic, sometimes reflective with wide panoramas and sometimes rhythmically wild as the primitive dances of tribal people.
The new concerto was so well written that even the highly energetic and effective orchestra part could not overtake command from the tuba. No wonder the audience was happy."

Very happy
Happy indeed, and it was also reported that the full house responded with a number of standing ovations.
Meanwhile the player will be launching his latest CD in April.
