The proud folk of Yorkshire always have a lot to boast about, but which of their leading bands holds the most regional titles to their name?
Black Dyke
As expected it is reigning champions Black Dyke with 18 to their name, stretching all the way back to A.O. Pearce leading them to success in 1945.
Not far behind them though is their traditional rivals, Brighouse & Rastrick with 16 and counting (the first in 1946, the last one in 2007), whilst Grimethorpe are in third with a very handy 11 to their name (the first in 1963, the last in 2006).
Can't win
Two bands that can’t add to their solitary victories are St Hilda, who win in 1950 and Crossley Carpet’s who won on ‘Salute to Youth’ in 1962.
Three that can
Three bands that can though are Yorkshire Imps who have 9 titles – the last in 1993, whilst Carlton Main and Hammonds Saltaire have 4 each.

Romantics
Carlton Main’s last victory came in 1999, 42 years after their first in 1957, whilst the romantics could have a field day if Hammonds take the title this year.
Their first success came under the Hammonds name, conducted by Geoffrey Whitham in 1969 – 40 years ago.
Now that would be some story.
