Swiss role in Co-op shop window

Swiss born cornetist Simon Esterman will lead Scottish Co-op's cornet end at the Regional Championshps in Dundee.

Scottish Co-op Band has announced that Simon Estermann will return to the band at the Scottish Championships in Dundee.

Second appearance

This will be a second appearance with the band for the 27 year-old Swiss-born cornetist, as he played principal cornet with them at the British Open Championship in 2008.

Scottish Co-op Band are looking forward to renewing the partnership with Simon whose presence will give an added strength in depth to the front row Scottish Co-op Band

Experience

Simon was born in Lucerne in 1982 and has been playing the cornet since he was 8 years of age.

He studied trumpet at the Lucerne Music Academy under Markus Wursch and Immanuel Richter and during his studies he was assistant principal cornet with the Burgermusik Luzern band, principal cornet with the Rickenbach Brass Band and flugel horn player with the Swiss Army Band.

Looking forward

A band spokesperson told 4BR: "Members of Scottish Co-op Band are looking forward to renewing the partnership with Simon whose presence will give an added strength in depth to the front row as the band attempts to add the Scottish title to the Scottish Open Championship which it won in November."
