North West thanks

Regional Secretary Peter Bates thanks the bands after a great day out in the Winter Gardens on Sunday.

Winter Gardens

Regional Secretary Peter Bates has thanked the competing bands at the North West Regional Championships on Sunday, after the 2009 contest ran like clockwork — so much so in fact that it actually finished half an hour before its alloted time.

Thank you

Talking to 4BR, he said: " So often people are quick to complain, via any form of media they choose, about things at Regional Championships. However, I would like to thank all the bandspersons and members of the public who took the time on Sunday to stop me and members of the regional organisation to say "thank you" for all the work which we put into organising the event and to say how much they had enjoyed their day."

With the five contests run over three seperate halls, it was hard work for Peter and his team, but with the help of the bands everything fell into place.

Sunday's comments restored my faith in the work which we carry out voluntarily for the banding movement and in particular the North West Regional ChampionshipsPeter Bates

Faith restored

Peter added: "There are times when you wonder why you do it, but Sunday's comments restored my faith in the work which we carry out voluntarily for the banding movement and in particular the North West Regional Championships. Thanks to everyone who took the time and trouble to express their appreciation."
