Silk Brass have hit a rich vein of form recently with their contest performances, and their trophy cabinet is starting to groan under the weight of the extra silverware that’s been added over the last two weekends.
Derby win
They recently competed against bands from the Midlands, Yorkshire and the North West at the NEMBBA Contest in Derby and not only did they walk away as overall winners but their principal cornet player, Mark Davies and trombonist, Andrew Snelson took individual honours too.
On the weekend they then qualifed for the National Finals at Harrogate after coming runner up in the Second Section.

Worthwhile
Barry Worth, Silk’s Chairman told 4BR: "In the run up to these two contests every player has made a huge commitment. For the last two weeks it’s been a case of work, band, sleep and there’s been no time for anything else! But when they call out your name as qualifying for the National Finals it makes all the hard work and sacrifice worthwhile."
