Three young brass musicians from England will be joining the European Youth Brass Band in Oostend, thanks to support and funding from the British Federation of Brass Bands.
Jessica Tredrea (cornet, Camborne Town Band), Alice Norman (Flugel horn, Foresters Brass 2000 and Youth Brass 2000) and Georgina Cockerill (cornet, MK Brass and Youth Brass 2000) will join the EYBB in Oostende from 25 April to 3 May at its course, which runs alongside the European Brass Band Championships.
Jessica Tredrea
Cornetist Jessica began playing in May 1999 and was taught under the Camborne Youth Brass Band banner by Alan Pope. In 2005 Jessica went on to also play for Camborne Town Band and in 2006 joined the ranks of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain (NYBBGB).
Taught by David Frost, Jessica passed her ‘A’-levels in 2008 with ‘B’ grade in English and Music and a Distinction in her Classical Music Performance Diploma.
Alice Norman
17 year-old Alice started playing the cornet at 9-years-of-age before moving to the Flugel horn when she was 11-years-old.
Currently the Flugel horn player with Foresters 2000 and Youth Brass 2000, Alice was recently awarded the prize for Best Soloist at the Action Research Youth Entertainment Championships in Blackpool.
Away from banding, Alice is also a proficient ‘cellist, being a member of the Leicestershire Schools Symphony Orchestra.
Georgina Cockerill
Georgina is currently the Assistant Principal Cornet player with MK Brass as well as playing with the highly successful Youth Brass 2000.
She started playing the cornet at the age of 9-years-old and was a member of the inaugural National Children’s Brass Band of Great Britain (NCBBGB) and has recently auditioned for the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain (NYBBGB).
