New composition for Cowes

Cowes Concert Band has had a recent fitting celebration — in all senses.

Cowes

A performance by Cowes Concert Band to celebrate the delivery of a new set of uniforms will be made even more special thanks to their MD Andy Norman.

Celebration

The Isle of Wight band will unveil its new jackets at a concert in Cowes, in March, and included in the programme will be a new composition entitled 'Celebration' — written by Andy to mark the special occasion.

Funded

The new jackets were funded by a £5,000 grant from the Hampshire and IW Community Foundation and are black and red with gold trim to match the colours on Cowes’ town crest.

It seemed fitting to write a piece to mark what is a special event in the band’s historyMD, Andy Norman

Fitting

Andy, who has already composed the band’s signature tune 'Royal Osborne', told 4BR: "It seemed fitting to write a piece to mark what is a special event in the band’s history.

"Writing a new piece of music for the band is a way of creating a permanent reminder of the event. We will be playing Celebration at our concerts this year and it will then remain in our library to be played on suitable occasions."
