BonaNZa in the Domain

New Zealand trombone quartet feature in concert under the stars.

One of the largest outdoor concerts in the world, the Skycity Starlight Symphony in Auckland, was held last night in the Auckland Domain.

This free outdoor concert regularly attracts crowds of over 100,000 and features local and returning NZ artists.

BonaNZa

This year New Zealand's premier trombone quartet performed their unique style of music.

BonaNZa members, David Bremner, Matthew Allison, Tim Sutton and Doug Cross performed to the large audience.

Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra

They joined the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by well known NZ based conductor Marc Taddei in a rendition of William Tell Overture, complete with the players coming in on horses — well not real ones — just the wooden toy variety.

Taddei has taught all four players and joked with the crowd that he encouraged them to go into IT, but they chose music instead.

Past soloists

Previously other musicians with links to the brass band world have performed at the Starlight Symphony including Riki McDonnell and Bede Williams, both with solo spots with the APO.
