The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama will be hosting a regional British Trombone Society event on Sunday 22nd March.
First event in four years
This is the first event in Cardiff for over four years and is set to be one of the biggest BTS days of 2009.
The day will be devoted to the trombone and will give participants the opportunity to take part in performances, classes and workshops.
The fun filled day kicks of at 9.30am with registration and welcome from BTS President, Bob Hughes4BR
Leading players
There will be the chance to work with and gain experience from leading players and trombone ensembles from throughout the UK.
Included in the day are:
· BBC NOW Trombone section — Orchestral repertoire workshop
· Kevin Price & Ed Jones — Starting the alto trombone
· Jeremy Price — Jazz recital/workshop
· 1-2-1 lessons — with professional trombonists
· Play with the Pro’s
· WNO Trombone section — Opera repertoire workshop
· Chris Thomas (Cory) — Recital
· Massed blow — all participants
· Simon Minshall (Bass Trombone, Fodens) — Recital
Exciting climax
Colin Barrett told 4BR: "This exciting day will come to a climax with an evening concert featuring the RWCMD Brass Band (Bob Childs) with soloists Brett Baker (Black Dyke) and Jonathan Pippen (RAF/BTM Band), Cory trombone quartet and a 12 piece trombone choir including players from WNO, BBCNOW, BSO and CBSO performing a new work from Roger Harvey."
Fun filled
The fun filled day kicks of at 9.30am with registration and welcome from BTS President, Bob Hughes. There will be plenty going all day as well as trade stands to visit.
Free
The day event is free to all BTS members and £10 for non-members. The concert which starts at 6pm is £5.
