Jackfield lose cornet

The Jackfield Band has lost a cornet, but thankfully not a player — but they want it back.

With just under a week to go to the Brass at the Guild contest, Jackfield (Elcock Reisen) Band have been struck a blow with Principal Cornet Gayle Bussey having her cornet stolen from her car.

Stolen

Following rehearsal on Friday her car was broken into and the cornet, a silver plate Sovereign, was stolen. As well as the cornet a number of mutes and mouthpieces, which including a new one she had been bedding in for the contest, were taken.

The cornet was stolen by opportunist thinking that the bag was a lap top bag and not a gig bag, where hoping that they will have just abandoned it somewhere without causing any damageJackfield Band

Devastated

Gayle is devastated by the loss as the cornet had a great deal of sentimental value. Band spokesperson Darrin Smith commented to 4BR: "The cornet was stolen by an opportunist thinking that the bag was a lap top and not a gig bag. We are hoping that they will have just abandoned it somewhere without causing any damage."

Nudge, nudge

Should anyone be offered a Sovereign cornet in a black gig bag or without a case, with a nudge, nudge, wink, wink approach, please could Jackfield Band either via their website at www.jackfieldband.org.uk, email jackfieldband@btinternet.com or by calling 07807236859.
