The Butlins Youth Champions, Youth Brass 2000 recently held a brass workshop with players of Fodens and Desford.

The tutors from Fodens were Helen Williams, Lesley Howie, Glyn Williams, John Barber and Dave Wycherley with Andy Chett of Desford.
Conductor Chris Jeans took the full rehearsals and the day saw the band begin its preparation for The Action Research National Youth Entertainment Championships of Great Britain, which takes place this Sunday.

Reflections
2008 saw Youth Brass 2000 come runner up at the Action Research contest as well as winning a Gold award and the runners up position at the National Youth Brass Band Championships and an 'outstanding' award at the National Festival of Youth Festival. The band also performed at the Royal Albert Hall and won the Tameside Youth Music Festival.
National Youth
Youth Brass has currently five representatives in the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain and two players will represent England as part of the European Youth Brass Band — Alice Norman and Georgina Cockeril.
NABBC
Meanwhile, the band has been asked by Dr Roy Newsome to perform at this year's NABBC AGM in Lincoln whilst the trombone section will be performing for the British Trombone Society in March.
