In preparation for the RNCM Festival of Brass on the 31st January, British Open champions Fodens and conductor Garry Cutt have been busy rehearsing 'A World Within', the first piece to be written for the band by Fodens Composer in Residence, Andy Scott.
Dedicated
The new work is dedicated to Fodens President Peter Fletcher, who will be at the world premiere at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.
Fodens programme also includes Gilbert Vinter's 'Variations on a Ninth', Bruce Broughton's 'Masters of Space and Time' and Philip Wilby's 'Paganini Variations'4BR
Premieres
Fodens will also welcome two renowned world soloists to their concert, Rex Richardson on trumpet who will perform the world premiere of 'Apophenia for Trumpet and Band' by Peter Meechan, and Mark Fewer on violin who will be featured in the first performance in the UK of 'Nine Daies Wonder for Violin and Brass Band' by Bram Tovey.
