St Stythians Band has announced the appointment of a new musical director.

Challenge

James Burns, previously the band's principal cornet player, took up the challenge on an interim basis following the departure of previous MD Derek Johnston. Following the band's fine runner up finish at the South West contest, and a round of auditions, James was appointed full-time.

Up turn in fortunes

The last few months has seen an upturn in the band's fortunes, with them recently hosting the GUS Band in concert, finished second at a local contest, and welcoming back several former members.

With their new young and enthusiastic Musical Director, St Stythians state they have put a challenging year to bed, and now look forward to plenty of enjoyable music making.
