Telford's 10 hour marathon

Abraham Darby Academy to put their noses to the musical grindstone to raise World Championship funds.

Members of the senior bands of the Abraham Darby Academy in Telford will be participating in a sponsored 10 hour playing marathon to help to raise funds to enable the school’s participation in the World Music Contest in Kerkrade in July.

I am delighted that all of the band member’s were willing to give up ten hours of their weekend in order to helpRachel Morton

Funds

Funds will also be raised towards the Showband’s return to the New York International Wind Band Festival where they will perform on the stage of the world famous Carnegie Hall in March 2010.

The sponsored event will be launched at 9.00a.m on February 7th by the local MP David Wright, who will then pass the baton to Rachel Morton, the Academy’s Head of Music, who will then continue without a break until 7.00pm — some 10 hours later.

Delighted

Rachel told 4BR: "I am delighted that all of the band member’s were willing to give up ten hours of their weekend in order to help, support and assist in the raising of funds to enable them to participate in these prestigious International competitions."
