Sudden death of Jim Harty

News has reached us of the passing of Jim Harty.

 

4BRDU has been informed of the death of Jim Harty. Jim died on Friday in Brisbane after collapsing on Wednesday morning.

Jim was originally a member of St. Mary's Band in Sydney and has played with Longreach Town Band and most recently Maryborough Excelsior and Sunshine Brass. Jim was 60 years old.

Funeral arrangements

The funeral will be held 11.00am on Wednesday 21 January at Fraser Coast Crematorium and Bayside Memorial Gardens, Nikenbah, Hervey Bay.

All friends and band members past and present (no uniforms) are invited to attend. No flowers by request.

Bryan Pickard from Sunshine Brass said: "Some of the band members and friends are arranging to play. Feel free to bring your instrument. We are having a practice on Mon evening at 7.30 pm at the Band Hall if you can make it."

Bryan continued: "Jim was a good and much loved friend to many present and past band members and will be greatly missed. Please keep in your thoughts Jim's wife Julie and his children who are devastated by his sudden loss."
