New conducting duo at Unison Kinneil

Andrew Duncan and Paul Drury are the new one/two at Unison Kinneil in Scotland.

Unison Kinneil Band has announced their new conducting team for 2009, with Paul Drury and Andrew Duncan appointed as resident conductor and MD respectively.

Regular resident

Paul, who has previously been with Kinneil both as player and conductor, has been working regularly with the band since the summer but has now agreed to continue on a permanent basis.

Andrew also has a long association with Kinneil and has overseen several contests and concerts.

First task

Their first task is a joint one, to prepare the band for it's long overdue debut CD. Recording begins in February and will feature new works from both.

Andrew will then lead the band at the 2009 Scottish Area Championships which returns to Dundee's Caird Hall on 22nd March.

Exciting times ahead

Band spokesman David Frame told 4BR: "Everyone at Unison Kinneil is excited at the prospect of working with not one, but two, of Scotlands finest conductors.

"Access to their new compositions and arrangements will help develop the band and we see nothing other than a successful partnership evolving. We know them both very well and they know our strengths and weaknesses inside out. There are interestings times ahead."

May 28 • Tintwistle Band are looking for front row cornet players to help complete our team. . We rehearse Monday and Thursday 8-10pm at our own bandroom on Old Road in Tintwistle, under the baton of MD Jim Henson, and perform a variety of concerts all year round.
