Welsh contenders sign conducting duo

Cwmaman Institute Silver Band has announced the signing of a new conducting team for 2009.

Mixed 2008

After a mixed year in 2008, the band state they are looking to 2009 with new players and renewed vigour.

Experienced

As a result, the experienced Graham O’Connor will lead the band in their assault on the Welsh Regional’s in Swansea.

Secretary, Steve Stonelake told 4BR: "Securing a conductor of Graham’s calibre for the Area contest is a great win for the band. We’re really looking forward to working with him over the next few months."

New resident conductor

The band have also appointed a new resident conductor in Craig Roberts. Craig helped the band out at the end of last year and the band are pleased that Craig has now agreed to work with them fulltime.

Steve Stonelake added: "Craig has really helped to transform the band over the last few months and the work ethic he brings with him is just what we need. He's a great addition to the band and we’re looking forward to the opportunities that working with him brings."

Bilton Silver Rugby Band

November 22 • Bilton Silver (Rugby) requires a cornet player to join our Championship Section band (Position negotiable). Under MD Brad Turnbull we have a varied programme of events. Rehearsals are held on Monday and Friday at 7-45pm in our own purpose built bandroom.


Besses o'th' Barn Band

November 21 • Under the direction of David W Ashworth, we are making every effort to complete the rebuild of this very famous brass band. We require one kit and one tuned percussionists plus one Back Row Cornet to complete our line up for the North West Area Contest.
