Butlins announces 2010 test-pieces

The Butlins Mineworkers Championships have announced the test-pieces for its 2010 Festival.

Talking to 4BR, organiser Brian Eggleshaw said: "We have chosen these works as our tribute to the to younger composers and arrangers in the banding movement today. We believe that there is such a great amount of talent and quality out there that Butlins has a duty to encourage and promote the very best of what we have to offer."

Test Pieces:

The chosen works for 2010 are:

Championship Section: Sleepless Cities (Paul Lovatt-Cooper) – published by Prima Vista
First Section: A Hebridean Suite (Andrew Duncan) – published by The Music Co.
Second Section: Folk Music (Keith Wardle) – published by Optomi Music
Third Section: Diamonds (Tom Moss) – published by Studio Music
Fourth Section: Roman Triptych (Leigh Baker) – published by Kirklees Music

Meanwhile Brian told 4BR of his delight at the response of bands and their supporters to the forthcoming event in Skegness in a few weeks time.

May 20 • Audley Brass are seeking a Principal Cornet player to lead the band into the First Section in 2025. The band have several fantastic events in the diary including the National Finals and no less than 6 of our epic beer festival sing-along nights.
