4BR has been informed that following three successful years with the Timperley Band, David Evans has decided to step down as Professional Conductor.
New challenge
The former Yorkshire Imps and Faireys conductor has decided that he needs to move on to a new challenge and hopes to be conducting on the contest podium again sometime in 2009.
Natural time
David commented to 4BR: "I feel it is the natural time for both me and the band to move on, the Timperley project is still very close to my heart and I find it unbelievable the success which the band has achieved since reforming back in 2005."
He added: "To think that just three years ago, the band started with a small group of friends and had little in the way of instruments, music, music stands or uniforms, it is amazing that the band is now a force in the Championship Section.
This is testament to the drive and commitment of the players and the management team and I sincerely hope that they will continue to go from strength to strengthDavid Evans
Drive
"This is testament to the drive and commitment of the players and the management team and I sincerely hope that they will continue to go from strength to strength."
Under David’s leadership the band has enjoyed four victories and a number of podium finishes in competitions, as well as being crowned the NWCBBA Championship Section Band of the Year for 2007/08.
New MD
Timperley recently appeared at the Wilkinsons Open competition under the baton of Mark Peacock where they gained the runners up spot.
Mark will be leading the band over the Christmas period before David signs off with the band in a concert at Tottington High School in January, where he works as Assistant Head Teacher. Meantime the band will begin the process to appoint a new Professional Conductor.
Grateful
Gary Winson, Timperley’s Chairman told 4BR: "The band are very grateful for David’s major contribution to the bands success and we all wish him well for the future."
