Phoenix from the Flames...

The Bathgate Band returns to contesting ways at the Scottish Open after a period in the doldrums.

4BR has been informed that the Bathgate Band will return to contesting this weekend rejuvenated and enthusiastic and aiming towards the future.

For much of 2008 the band had been in the doldrums, having lost a number of players following the Scottish Championships in March.

Influx

However, since the Summer, with the appointment of conductor Stephen Baird, and an unprecedented influx of players, the band make their return to the contesting calendar at the Scottish Challenge Shield in Perth this weekend.

New chapter

From a small core of players, a full team has been formed and stability restored, and with a new re-designed website having gone live on 19th November, the return marks a new chapter for the band, and a bright future is anticipated.

Youth plans

Plans for a youth development programme and instrumental tuition at all levels are now being formulated to assist with the promotion of brass bands in the community.
