The Kippax Band social club was packed to the rafters last weekend for the final of the 2008 entertainment contest series.

In the end it was the East Yorkshire Motor Services Band scooped the £1,000 first prize and the Kippax Band Entertainment Trophy with Harrogate and Drighlington coming 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Clean sweep
Adjudicator Alan Morrison had praise and constructive criticism for all three bands, whilst EYMS also took the soloist prize as Principal Cornet Neil Day put in a fine performance of 'El Cumbancero'. The band also made it a clean sweep of the prize board with Principal Trombonist Mark Unsworth taking the 'Best Instrumentalist' trophy.

The Kippax Band took the opportunity to thank Mark Lowe and Aqua Enviro for sponsoring this event for the last two years, and although they are unable to offer support for next year the band hope to be able to continue with a third contest in the series next year.
