Scottish Co-op Band has announced that former principal cornet player, Jim Hayes, will fill the band's principal cornet chair at the forthcoming Scottish Open Championship in Perth later this month.

Great boost

Jim's leadership in the front row will be seen as a great boost to the band who will be tackling the heavy demands of Kenneth Downie's test piece 'St. Magnus' for the contest.

Jim is able to return to lead the band's challenge and many are mindful of the important role he played in the band's recent hat-trick victory in the West Lothian Challenge earlier in the yearScottish Co-op

Hat-trick contribution

Robert McCorkell from the band told 4BR: "Jim is able to return to lead the band's challenge and many are mindful of the important role he played in the band's recent hat-trick victory in the West Lothian Challenge earlier in the year."

Jim told 4BR: "I'm really looking forward to playing with the band again and I hope I can help them achieve a good result — preferably a victory."
