As part of its twentieth birthday celebrations next year, the Sheldon Theatre Brass Band of Red Wing, Minnesota, have announced they have commissioned British composer Rob Collinson to write a work for their anniversary concert to be held in August, 2009.

Pleasure

Rob, who already has a working relationship with the band, is delighted to be contributing to this milestone in the band's history. He told 4BR: "It's a pleasure to be writing for them again, and a real honour to be part of their celebrations."

Eager

Doug Rowe, trombonist and president of the band’s board, added; "We’ve enjoyed performing Mr. Collinson’s compositions in the past and are eager to see what he creates for the band’s twentieth anniversary."

Name

Audience interest in the new composition is heightened by a competition to name the piece, with the winner getting the autographed front page of the score.

The band is grateful to the SouthEastern Minnesota Arts Council for an arts grant that includes the commission.
