The Northern Region Brass Band Trust recently organised another successful weekend of workshops, rehearsals and final concert in the Conservative Club of Penrith in Cumbria, hosted by the Penrith Band.
Baker led
Proceedings were organised by Len Old and Sue Hayton and members of the Penrith Band, with tutors Natsumi Inama tutoring the euphoniums and baritones, Chris Doran tutoring the bass section.
James Hayes and Ben Rapp acted as cornet tutors, Martin Armstrong looking after the horn players, and Brett Baker taking on the responsibility as Course Director and trombone tutor.

Delegates
47 delegates attended the course, working on a variety of pieces including Peter Yorke's 'The Ship Builders', 'A Malvern Suite' by Philip Sparke, 'Crimson Tide' by Hans Zimmer, 'Ravenswood', and Derek Broadbent's arrangement of 'Music'.
Solos
White River Brass also took part in the afternoon’s concert with consisted of solos from tutors James Hayes, Martin Armstrong, Chris Doran and Brett Baker.
Just before the concert the tutors took part in a question and answer session where practice routines and recommendations were given.

The next course held by the Trust, an dult Residential Instrumental weekend, ill take place the weekend after Easter in 2009.
