The Shirley Band under Musical Director Alwyn Green welcome three new players to the ranks as they look to build upon a solid year on the concert and contest front, which included a 2nd place at the Weston-super-Mare contest.

Sisters

Sisters Rachel and Lizzie Haigh join the front row cornet and horn section respectively whilst Helen Green joins the back row cornets.

Helen is the third Green of a "Green Revolution" as she joins MD Alwyn and cornet player Robert in the ranks — although none are related.

Looking forward

A spokesperson told 4BR "The band are enjoying working with Alwyn, who has just retired after more than 20 years as Bass Trombone with the CBSO, and are looking forward with great optimism to the challenges ahead."
