The organisers of the World Music Contest (WMC) have revealed the test pieces for the contest next year.
The prestigious competition, in which the organisers state the Championship Section acts as the World Championships, take place in the summer of 2009 in Kerkrade in the Netherlands.
The test pieces are:
Championship Section: Harrisons Dream (Peter Graham)
1st Section: Equilibrium (Paul Lovatt-Cooper) – new work
2nd Section: Psalms and Alleluias (Philip Wilby)
3rd Section: Lake of the Moon (Kevin Houben)
The bands in the top section play the test piece on Saturday July 11th and an own choice concert programme of approximately 40 minutes on Sunday July 12th4BR
Two day spread

The performances of the bands in all other sections will be spread over both days. The brass band weekend of the WMC closes with a Gala Concert on Monday July 13th.
Registration:
The registration for the brass band section of the World Music Contest, for which interest has been shown from all over the world, will be opened until December 1st.

Besides the contest for brass bands, the city of Kerkrade also hosts competitions for wind and fanfare bands. With about 19,000 active participating musicians and more than 600,000 visitors, the Dutch World Music Contest is the world’s largest wind music festival.
