The 8th Annual Borders Entertainment Contest is set to return to Jedburgh on Saturday 1st November, when a record 18 bands will battle for the Scottish Borders Trophy.
The Scottish Borders Brass Band Association is organising the event, which will be held in the Town Hall commencing at 9.30am.
Contenders
Borders bands, Selkirk, Jedforest, St. Ronan’s, Peebles and Langholm have all entered and will be joined at the contest by other bands from across Scotland.

Concert programme
Each band will play a fifteen-minute concert programme and adjudicators John Roberts and Tony Swainson will judge the performances. Meanwhile, John Lamont MSP has been invited to assess the entertainment value of the performances.
Awards
The contest is confined to First, Second, Third and Fourth Section bands and there will be prizes for the best band in each section and an entertainment prize as well as individual awards. A new award for the 'Best Solo Cornet', will be presented for the first time this year in memory of Dave Young, the prominent Borders brass musician who passed away earlier this year.
Youth Section
In the youth section, four bands will participate.
Abbey Brass (Jedforest), St. Ronan’s Future Band, Langholm Junior Band and Peebles Junior Band will all take part and be given gold, silver or bronze awards aimed at encouraging the development of these young players.
This section will be adjudicated by James Chamberlain.
