The Southern Counties Amateur Bands Association (SCABA) is looking forward to welcoming 31 bands to its annual Autumn Contest at the Leas Cliff Hall in Folkestone this weekend.
Two day contest
Roy Sparkes will judge all the sections from youth to Championship over the two days and once again SCABA welcomes visitors from Europe, with competitors from Belgium.
Brass Band Heist will be performing a short concert on Saturday evening after the completion of the contest and prior to the results being announced.
SCABA is currently focusing on youth and is committed to encouraging youth players and so it is delighted to have secured sponsorship for its youth sections from 'Mode for...' until the end of 2009SCABA
Sponsorship
SCABA's Media Officer commented to 4BR: "SCABA is currently focusing on youth and is committed to encouraging youth players and so it is delighted to have secured sponsorship for its youth sections from 'Mode for...' until the end of 2009."
The sponsorship deal will see every youth band receive a voucher for £50 of music from 'Mode for's' catalogue each time it enters in the spring, entertainment or autumn contest in 2009.
2009 dates
SCABA has also announced the dates and adjudicators for its 2009 series of contests.
However, it has run into difficulty with the venue of the 2009 Autumn Contest as Kapitol Promotions, organisers of the National Brass Band Championships, has changed the date of the 2009 finals.
More information
That means that in order not to clash, SCABA has had to re-arrange its contest date, but despite having already booked the Leas Cliff Hall for the contest, the venue has no other available dates in October. It now of course means that an alternative venue has to be found.
