Chichester City Band have regretfully had to say a sad goodbye to their conductor, John Williams and his wife and horn player, Mary.

Unfortunately they have both had to retire from the band due to John’s poor heath.

Finals appearances

John and Mary have been part of the band since 1997 and have helped the band go from strength to strength. Under John’s lead, the band has performed in numerous memorable concerts in the local area, the National Finals, and has collected over 40 trophies at various contests around the country.

Civic Award

In recognition of all of John’s hard work, he was made Life Vice President of the band in 2005 and was awarded a Civic Award by Chichester Council.

Both John and Mary will be greatly missed by the players and friends of the band and all wish John well with his treatment and hope he has a speedy recovery.
