Wychavon champs add to the ranks ahead of their challenge for the National title next month.

Tredegar

Fresh from their recent Whychavon success, Tredegar Band has announced the signing of Gareth Robinson on solo trombone.

Gareth is a second year student at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and is Principal Trombone of the National Youth Brass Band, National Youth Orchestra and National Youth Wind Orchestra of Wales.

I'm really looking forward to working with Tredegar under Ian Porthouse, and there's nowhere better to start than the National FinalsGareth Robinson

Looking forward

Gareth commented to 4BR: "I’m really looking forward to working with Tredegar under Ian Porthouse, and there’s nowhere better to start than the National Finals.

"I would like to thank Flowers for everything they have done and I leave with good memories of concerts, contests and of people I now call my friends. There’s great things happening in Tredegar at the moment and I am thoroughly enjoying every moment."

Thanks

Tredegar have expressed their thanks too Steve Turton, their outgoing solo trombone player, for all his hard work over the last two years.

Steve is currently on trial with the Philamonia Orchestra and very busy as a freelance trombone player. MD Ian Porthouse commented to 4BR: "Steve has been a huge part of what the band has achieved over the last couple of years and we wish him all the best."
