Amazingly, the Kibworth Band have completed all their outdoor engagements this summer without being rained off!
Touch and go
It was touch and go at Melton Mowbray on September 7th but the Church provided the shelter and the audience brved the conditions to make it to the concert.
We’re only losing one player to university this year but since this is to Birmingham Conservatoire we hope that he will still continue to play with usKibworth Band spokesperson
Rebuilding
The band has also been rebuilding and is welcoming back Birmingham Conservatoire students Lauren-Marie White and Guy Morely on trombone together with cornet player Nick Mott.
All joined them earlier in the year and as they go into their second year at Birmingham are once again coming to rehearsal. Other students from Birmingham have helped the band out too such asy Michael Ixer, Tom Blackwell and Jonathon Firth.
Other signings during the year include Dianne Bonser on euphonium, Tracey Colston on solo horn, Kirsty Belford on 2nd horn and Jacob Phillips on soprano.
Continue to play
A band spokesperson told 4BR: "We’re only losing one player to university this year but since this is to Birmingham Conservatoire we hope that he will still continue to play with us.
"We would urge all brass players going off to University this year to try to continue their playing – there are bands near to most universities who would be only to pleased to welcome you and it will all importantly help to keep the movement alive."
