In 2003, the English & Wales Cricket Board, the ECB, first instituted its OSCAs — Outstanding Service to Cricket Award — as a reward for the time and work individuals put into the game of cricket.
The programme is sponsored by NatWest, and operates via the various County Cricket Boards and upward through the ECB. There are seven different categories of Award.
Elworth President
This year Elworth Cricket Club nominated their President, Allan Littlemore, for a Lifetime Achievement Award and recently he has been thrilled to be told that he had been selected by the Cheshire County Cricket Board to be nominated for the 2008 NatWest OSCAs.
Allan is of course well known in the banding world for his long time association with the Fodens and Leyland Bands, as well as being the author of the official centenary history of the Fodens Band.
In that time he batted for Elworth 533 times in full matches, scored nearly 8,000 runs and took 308 catches. He was First XI Vice Captain from 1964 to 19694BR
Long career
Allan joined Elworth Cricket Club in 1951 and has been a Member for 58 continuous years. As a playing member he progressed into the First XI in 1955 and kept his place until 1977. He then stood down into the Second XI for a further seven seasons.
In that time he batted for Elworth 533 times in full matches, scored nearly 8,000 runs and took 308 catches. He was First XI Vice Captain from 1964 to 1969.
Administrator
As an administrator, Allan has been variously Assistant Secretary for six years, Treasurer for twelve years, Chairman for seventeen years and President for five years. Over that time he has helped Elworth Cricket Club to progress from a very modest village team to a Club known and respected throughout Cheshire and beyond.
Life member
He was made an Honorary Life Member in 1994, and researched and wrote the book 'The History of Elworth Cricket Club' to coincide with the Millennium and the latest ground re-development.
While he has not made the final short list nationally, nevertheless his endeavours for Elworth Cricket Club have been nationally acknowledged and he has been formally invited to a volunteer appreciation lunch at Lords Cricket Ground, which is hosted by NatWest and the England and Wales Cricket Board, in October.
