New duo join the Constabulary

Two new players join the ranks of the Band of West Mercia Constabulary.

The Band of West Mercia Constabulary has announced that euphonium player Ian Bowker and bass trombonist Paul Sealey have signed up for service.

Signings

Ian has joined on 2nd euphonium and George Nash has moved from 2nd Euph to 2nd Baritone. The two new signings strengthen the band ahead of the Wychavon Entertainment contest and the Midlands Regional contest.

Meanwhile the band recently performed at a St Chads Church in Shrewsbury at a memorial service for PC Ricky Grey who was tragically shot dead in Shrewsbury in 20074BR

Meanwhile the band recently performed at a St Chads Church in Shrewsbury at a memorial service for PC Ricky Grey who was tragically shot dead in Shrewsbury in 2007.

The programme selected by PC Greys widow included 'The Champions' march, 'I’ll walk the God', 'Mr Blue Skies' and 'The Pirates of the Caribbean'. Following the service the band entertained senior officers and civic VIPs at Shropshire Division headquarters in Shrewsbury.

CD release

The band has also announced the release of its first CD celebrating the 40th anniversary of the force. The official launch of the recording will take place at a major charity concert at Kidderminster Town Hall in November.
