Fifteen Greater Gwent Youth Brass Band players recently attended the National Youth Brass Band of Wales annual course and concerts.
The course was held at Malvern College and the two concerts were held at the Fishguard Music Festival and at the University Hall, Cardiff.
Bass Trombone soloist
The band were conducted by guest conductor, Nigel Boddice, MBE and the guest soloist in Gareth Wood’s 'Concerto for Bass Trombone' was Christian Jones, Bass Trombone of the Philharmonia Orchestra.

The full programme was 'Four Scottish Dances' (Arnold), 'Prelude on Three Welsh Humn Tunes' (Vaughan Williams), 'Concerto for Bass Trombone' (Wood), 'Vienna Nights' (Wilby), 'Fanfare with Variants' (Hoddinott), 'In Memorium RK' (Howarth) and 'Prelude, Toccata and Fugue — Graduation Day' by Philip Sparke.
