On a rare sunny Sunday afternoon, visitors to Moira Furnace got more than they were expecting, when they were treated to the sound of Gresley Colliery Band giving an open-air concert at the historic site.

Tradition

The bands performance was part of North West Leicestershire District Council’s 'Music in the Park' scheme, with local bands being given the opportunity to revive the long lost tradition of playing in parks on Sunday afternoons.

The band entertained the large crowd with a selection of music to suit all tastes from the classics through to jazz, swing and pop.
