Ole! for Lions

Lions Youth return to UK after an enjoyable tour to Spain.

Lions Youth Brass under their Musical Director Nigel Birch, have just returned from a hectic, but extremely enjoyable and successful trip to Spain.

Hectic

The band set off on the 19th July from Manchester Airport to Alicante and due to their hectic schedule had to have a quick rehearsal when they arrived before their first concert that night.

The following morning was for relaxation by the hotel pool, before another evening performance with the local wind band, which took place in a beautiful auditorium where the band received a standing ovation from the large audience.

This was a wonderful experience for the band. The Spanish people treated us with great respect and all our concerts were very well receivedMD, Nigel Birch

Delight

The following four days saw the band delight audiences all over Spain as they played a wide selection of music from all parts of the globe and featured many of the band's talented soloists.

The final concert was staged at a lovely amphitheatre in Calape where the large audience really enjoyed the band's varied repertoire of music, and the band sold an amazing 120 CDs!

Wonderful experience

The band returned to England on the following Saturday and played their annual end of tour concert in aid of Sandbach Rotary Club.

Nigel Birch told 4BR: "This was a wonderful experience for the band. The Spanish people treated us with great respect and all our concerts were very well received. We have already being asked to go back on the 24th July next year."
