Heritage stars at Blaenavon

There is a new breed of young heritage players in Blaenavon it seems...

21 young players from 7 to 17 took part in this years Summer School in the Welsh town of Blaenavon recently.

The 3 days consisted of rehearsing new music and preparing for a concert at the Blaenavon World Heritage Centre on Wednesday afternoon.

Heritage

The summer school has become an annual event and has grown over the years. This year the band were pleased to have the services of Lana Tingay from Gwent Music Support who helped with sectional and full band rehearsals.

The concert included a number of pieces from the beginners group which consisted of 6 players who had only been playing a very short while4BR

Hard work

The Junior Band Tutor, Evan Smith, was very pleased with the numbers of players attending and the hard work that everyone had put in. Also helping were players from the senior band who took time off to help the youngsters.

The concert included a number of pieces from the beginners group which consisted of 6 players who had only been playing a very short while.

The Concert was attended by Councellor Tom Huish, Mayor of Blaenavon who presented each young player with a special certificate.
