Fodens down under

Fodens star Shaun Hudson enjoys the high life in Oz — care of Dean Morley no less!

Fodens star euphonium player Shaun Hudson and his fiancé Helen Geoghegan have just visited Brisbane as part of their epic tour 'Down Under' visiting friends and family.

After landing at Brisbane International Airport last Tuesday morning they were a little shocked when the luxury hotel they had booked in the centre of town turned out to be a YMCA in a state of disrepair!

Deano always burns everything and I like to eat my Kangaroo, Possum and Cane Toad medium rare so I was compelled to step in and put on Deanos XXL apronSteve Ridler

Morley to the rescue

Luckily, a quick call to an old comrade from Grimethorpe rectified the problem when Dean Morley gave them the key to the apartment he shares with his girlfriend Julie Woods (Principal tuba of XLR) so their accommodation problems were over.

BBQ treat

Deano and Julie then proceeded to assist them in painting the town red all week culminating in a gourmet barbie where Chef in Chief was Steve Ridler (ex B&R and Principal horn at XLCR) who cooked up a treat.

Steve told 4BR: "Deano always burns everything and I like to eat my Kangaroo, Possum and Cane Toad medium rare so I was compelled to step in and put on Deanos XXL apron."

Missed chance

Shaun and Helen were hoping to have a blow with Brisbane XLCR but unfortunately the band were having a well earned break after recently winning the New Zealand Nationals again and taking their record winning tally of National wins in the Southern Hemisphere to 6 in a row.

Shaun and Helen are now continuing their tour of Oz and will be visiting Cairns, Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne and Kackadoodoo near Newcastle before flying home just in time for the British Open.
