South Yorkshire Police Brass Band recently played to hundreds of Normandy veterans in a packed York Minster last Sunday.
Lump to the throat
Band Sergeant, Simon Davies commented to 4BR: "The band was honoured to perform in front of these exceptional Normandy veterans. To see the veterans march, the youngest being 82 years old, was an amazing sight, and really brought a lump to the throat."
The event consisted of a service of remembrance in the historic York Minster, followed by a short march and salute taken by the Mayor.
