Camborne Town Band has announced that Dr. Robert Childs has accepted the invitation to become their new Professional Music Advisor.

Bob will begin working with the band in September and his role will be all encompassing, ranging from helping the band develop its musical policy, to advising on the engagement of guest conductors.

Thrilled

Bob told 4BR: "I'm pleased to be working with such a fine band and look forward to meeting the players and committee after the summer break. My son David has had a link with the Camborne Youth Band for some time and I'm thrilled to be working with such a forward looking organisation."

He added: "I'm obviously very busy with the Cory Band but when my diary permits, I'm really looking forward to taking the band to a few contests."

Bob's appointment is very exciting and hopefully will herald a new and successful era for the bandChairman, Marcus Dunstan
