"Global Climate Change" claims 2nd USA Festival in 2008

The Grand Celebration of Brass Bands (hosted by the Eastern Iowa Brass Band) has been postponed due to high waters.

The Eastern Iowa Brass Band has been forced to postpone the Grand Celebration of Brass Bands (ironically on the same weekend that the Ohio Brass Arts Festival has been reschedule from a freak blizzard earlier this year). Perhaps Al Gore was on to something?!

The Cedar River (a tributary of the Mississippi) runs through the festival site, Ushers Ferry Historic Village. Floods forecasts predict the water to be higher than back in 1993, when the water was up to the steps of the gazebo!

Given the short time frame organisers had to work with, efforts to find a suitable location to move the festival were not successful. Organisers will try to reschedule the event for later this summer. Check back ath the Grand Celebration of Brass Bands website for updates ( http://www.eibb.org/gcobb.php).
