No more Curry at Waratah

Conrad Curry, former Principal Cornet and Musical Director of Waratah Brass No. 2, has resigned from the Waratah Brass organisation.

Conrad Curry

The decision to leave Waratah Brass has not been taken lightly and the parting between Conrad and the band is entirely amicable.

Conrad has been with the band for 17 years, and Principal Cornet basically since 1994, and only ceased playing after the 2008 Nationals to focus on conducting.

I wish Waratah Brass every success for the future. In terms of my playing future, after a short break I intend to register as a player with Brisbane Excelsior.Conrad Curry

His input to the organisation in terms of development and success has been enormous. In 2003, Conrad recommenced the No. 2 band starting with 3 players — all cornet players aged 10-12.

The band was promoted from D to C grade after the NSW State Championships in 2006, came 2nd at the 2007 State Championships in C grade and then were the C grade National Champions this year.

Conrad Curry told 4BRDU today: "I wish Waratah Brass every success for the future. In terms of my playing future, after a short break I intend to register as a player with Brisbane Excelsior."
