Porthouse set for Norway

One weekend in Cambridge, one weekend in Norway for busy conductor.

After a busy few weekends in which he has conducted succesfully with Tredegar Band at Blackpool, Tredegar and Cambridge, MD Ian Porthouse will be flying out to Norway for a busy weekend of teaching and performing.

Masterclasses

This will include a masterclass at the University of Stavanger, a workshop with Hornorkesteret Stavanger Band and appearing as guest soloist with them on Saturday evening.

The band is conducted by ex Desford tuba player Clive Zwanswiniski and this will be the second time Ian will have worked with them this year. Part of the time Ian will be there will be spent working with individual players in a series of private lessons.

Return

Ian then returns on Sunday morning to begin rehearsals with Tredegar Town for their upcoming 'Listen to the Band' broadcast and CD recording as well as hosting Philip Wilby at the Birmingham Conservatoire when he will be conducting the brass band in our concert to include his 'Vienna Nights', 'Pagannini Variations', 'Concerto 1945' and 'Festival Music and Heritage' by Robert Foster.
