Greater Gwent Solo & Quartet

Details of this weekend's competition in Newport have been announced.

The deadline for this Saturday’s Third Gwent Solo & Quartet Contest has now passed, and we are delighted to report that over 140 entrants will take part at the YMCA, Mendalgief Road, Newport.

Excellent entry

This is an excellent entry from players from bands and schools within Greater Gwent plus entries from Upper Rhondda, the Forest of Dean and Camborne in Cornwall. Everyone will be trying to impress the two world class soloists from the Cory Band, Owen Farr (tenor horn) and Christopher Thomas (trombone).

Commence

The Contest will commence at 9.30am and the Adjudications are expected at 5.30pm, when both adjudicators will also perform before the results are announced. Admission to all sections is £2 adults and £1 concessions.
