Ian Porthouse, MD of Welsh Champions Tredegar is preparing to make the permanent move from the north of England to the South Wales valleys.

Ian and his family have decided to make the move in mid July as part of their long term future plans to settle in Wales.

Develop links

Ian told 4BR: "We will move permanently in mid July as it makes it so much easier for me to commute to Birmingham, where I will continue my job as Director of Brass Band Studies at the Conservatoire. It also means that I can continue to develop my professional links with Tredegar as well as hopefully develop teaching and conducting links in South Wales."

Ian has a number of projects lined up in the coming months with his usual trip to to be part of the International Brass Band Summer School in August in Swansea as well as projects in Norway at the end of May and workshops planned in Scotland and Cumbria over the coming months.
