Last Sunday Coalburn Silver Band was both honoured and delighted to provide the music at the final commemoration event for the Cameronian regiment.

Cameronian Regiment

The Cameronian regiment was formed on the banks of the Douglas Water on the 14th May 1689 by Lord Angus. The regiment went on to fight in the American War of Independence and Imperial campaigns throughout the world.

The regiment paraded for the last time in Douglas on the 14 May 1968, 279 years to the day from its raising. This commemorative event was the last ever staged by the organisation and marks 40 years from the disbandmentCoalburn Silver

40 years

The regiment paraded for the last time in Douglas on the 14 May 1968, 279 years to the day from its raising. This commemorative event was the last ever staged by the organisation and marks 40 years from the disbandment.

Glorious sunshine

Coalburn Silver Band led by their conductor Gareth Bowman played a lovely programme as a large number of guests assembled in glorious sunshine at Douglas.

The band then played at a short commemoration service accompanying the congregation to the 23rd Psalm (Crimond), finishing with the Regimental march ‘Within a mile of Edinburgh Town’.
