The CPBBA have received record entries this year with the contest shaping up to be a highly competitive event.
Steve Miles from St Kilda Brass will be the Chief Adjudicator, and joining him from Auckland Dalewool Brass is Andy Williams.
Other adjudicators are Chris Campbell and Jeremy Thin from Christchurch.
This year, the association has decided to use 'open' adjudication for all events in preference to the traditional screened approach.
Three new trophies are being introduced this year. An aggregate of the slow melody and air and variation events at junior, open and championship level will establish the title of 'Canterbury Champion of Champions' at each of these levels.
The Canterbury Solo and Ensemble contest will be held in Christchurch, New Zealand, at the Great Hall, Christchurch Arts Centre, Saturday 24 May.
