The resurgence of Cowes Concert Band from the Isle of Wight is to be spotlighted on local radio.
The island’s oldest established brass band has experienced an upturn in fortunes in recent years and has attracted the attention of Cowes-based community station Angel Radio.
Interview
Band musical director Andy Norman will be interviewed on May 15 by popular presenter David Nove.
He will talk about the history of the band, formed in the 1850s, and the recent upturn which has seen membership increase to 26 players.
Andy told 4BR: "A few years ago the band was struggling for players but we have gradually built up our presence again on the island and are now almost up to full strength."

Tell the story
Andy added: "We have performed a string of successful concerts at churches across the island and our name is getting known again – we have also acquired new uniforms and banners. But we plan to continue to build and ensure the band has a long and bright future. We are delighted to be able to tell our story on the radio and get Cowes Concert Band known to a wider audience."
The interview will be broadcast live between 12 noon and 1pm on 91.5FM and worldwide via the station’s website – www.angelradioisleofwight.moonfruit.com
