Gresley Colliery Sebior and Youth Bands recently helped the Moira Male Voice Choir celebrated their 75th anniversary in a joint concert in the town.

Standing ovation

Playing and singing to a packed audience of 200 plus, the choir and both bands entertained the delighted audience with music and song to suit all tastes including, and the audience showed their appreciation by giving the performance a standing ovation after the band brought the concert to an end with ‘The Thunder and Lightning Polka’.

The histories of the choir and band are very similar in that the both were formed with local mineworkers as their foundation members.
