Marple set for redevelopment

For British Open Champions move out to new pastures with the promise of an exciting future ahead.

Former British Open champion, Marple, has recently moved out of their rented bandroom after 12 years at the Compstall Mill which is now due for redevelopment.

New players

The band has been fortunate to find a new home at the Marple Conservative Club and following some new players joining the band over the last few months, theye continue with their recovery towards full strength.

Under the direction of Tim Burns, the band is also developing nicely with a mix of core players and some new faces.

We also have an active 'Charles Ingham Bandroom Fund' as part of our organisation, working to provide a permanent home for the Marple Band...Chairman Paul Beetham

New home

Paul Beetham, Band Chairman told 4BR: "We also have an active 'Charles Ingham Bandroom Fund' as part of our organisation, working to provide a permanent home for the Marple Band which would be shared also with the Hawk Green Band who are based nearby.

A good sized plot of land has been purchased next to Marple Park some time ago and significant funds have been raised over a number of years, various initiatives are now in process to finance the project on to completion."
